The Parish Church of Duirinish was dedicated to St Mary and there additionally existed within the parish bounds two chapels, namely St Coan's at Glendale and St Mary's at Dunvegan. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1566 in the person of Malcolm Macpherson. In 1974 Duirinish formed a union with Waternish and after the union the united charge continued under the name of Duirinish. A further union followed in 1998 with Bracadale under the name of Bracadale and Duirinish. The kirk session sat within the presbytery of Skye until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Lochcarron-Skye. |
