The church of Turriff was dedicated to St Coan and formerly belonged to the Abbey of Arbroath. The old church, which stood at the west end of Castle Street, Turriff, was left to fall into a ruinous state when the present day building was erected in 1794, the new church was later enlarged in 1830 and further altered in 1897. In 1971, the Parish Church of Turriff, later known as Turriff St Ninian's, united with the charge of Forglen to form the session of Turriff St Ninian's and Forglen. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Turriff until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Buchan. |
