The Kirk Session of South Knapdale was disjoined form North Knapdale in 1734 and in 1975 two churches were built to serve the parish, one at Achahoish and one at Inverneil. Additionally in existence within the parish are the ruins of two ancient churches, one which is believed to have been the old parish church of Knapdale prior to its separation into North and South Knapdale. In 1964 Knapdale South formed a link with Ardrishaig. The kirk session sat within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Inveraray until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of South Argyll. |
