The parish of Coats was disjoined from Gartsherrie in 1874 and erected as a parish, quoad sacra. In addition to the parish church there was a also a mission chapel within the parish at Coatbank, which was later closed in 1947 and the building subsequently sold. On the 21st March 1993 a union was established between Coats and Coatbridge Coatdyke under the name of Coatbridge Clifton. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Hamilton. |
