In 1932 the congregations of Edinburgh Newington and of Edinburgh St Leonard's were united to together to form the session of Edinburgh Newington St Leonard's in 1932. After the union the St Leonard's Church and hall were sold to The Church of Christ and the old Newington parish church remained in use for public worship. The congregation was later dissolved in 1976 due declining numbers caused by depopulation of the area. The kirk session formerly sat within the Presbytery of Edinburgh and the Synod of Lothian and Tweedale. |
