The Parish church of Paisley High Kirk was built in 1756 and the parish was disjoined from that of the Abbey of Paisley by the Commissioners for the Plantation of Kirks in 1782. The Church was named the High Kirk due to fact that it was constructed on high ground in contrast to the older Laigh (meaning low) Kirk. In 1994 Paisley High united with St Johns and School Wynd Congregational Church under the name of Oakshaw Trinity and a further union was established in 1994 with Orr Square. Following the 1994 union the session continued under the name of Paisley Oakshaw Trinity. The Kirk Session sits within the Presbytery of Paisley. |
