The church of Dalmellington, Ayrshire, originally served a medieval parish whose vicarage was a prebend of the Chapel Royal, Stirling. The parish church was rebuilt in 1846. Lethanhill and Waterside, later a separate parish, were originally within the bounds of Dalmellington. After the union of 1929 it was known as Dalmellington Kirk o? the Covenant until the two Dalmellington charges were united in 1982. The united charge is in the presbytery of Ayr and was in the synod of Ayr (formerly Glasgow and Ayr) until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
