On the 28th May 1838 the General Assembly granted a constitution to a chapel at Howwood, which went by the name of Elliestoun. The chapel was later rebuilt in 1858 and the parish of Howwood was disjoined by the Court of Teinds in 1904 from Lochwinnoch and Kilbarchan. The Kirk Session of Howwood sits within the Presbytery of Paisley. |
