The church was founded in 1406 as a Collegiate Church dedicated to St Nicholas and was a prebend of the Deanery of Restalrig. On 8-10 October 1467, Patrick Graham, Bishop of St Andrews disjoined Dalkeith from the parish of Lasswade. The parish was errected on 5 June 1592 upon dissolution of the Deanery. Ministry began in 1565 in the person of Robert Wilson, minister. At the union of the United Free Church and the Established church in 1929, this charge became known as Dalkeith St Nicholas Church of Scotland. From at least 1976 the session was within the jurisdiction of Lothian Presbytery before which time it was within the jurisdiction of Dalkeith Presbytery. Dalkeith Buccleuch Street united with Dalkeith St Nicholas in 1979 under the name of Dalkeith St Nicholas Buccleuch. |
