Glasgow Elders? and Office Bearers? Union originated from Glasgow Elders? Association in Connection with the Church of Scotland, formed in 1854. Its purpose was partly social and partly the furtherance of the general interests of the Church, but it also financed home mission work, first in the High Street area and later south of the river, where it acquired a site and built what became Plantation Church in 1875. After the union of 1929 it merged with the similar Glasgow United Free Church Office Bearers? Union. |
