The Parish Church of Rosemarkie, which was dedicated to St Peter, was formerly a prebend of the Cathedral of Fortrose and ministry of the session is recorded from 1560 in the person of George Dunbar. The old church of Rosemarkie was rebuilt in the first half of the 19th century. In 1967 Rosemarkie was united with Fortrose, under the name of Fortrose and Rosemarkie and the ministry of Rev A. Macrae, minister at Fortrose. In 1978 the united session formed a link with Avoch. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Chanonry and later of Chanonry and Dingwall, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
