The church at the Kirktoun of Cumbrae belonged to the Abbey of Paisley. In 1837 the parish church was transferred to a new site less than a mile from the Kirktoun. In 1930 the church became known as Millport Abbey Church, before uniting with Millport West in 1932. The united charge continued as Millport West until on 7 March 1971 there was a further union with Millport East when the charge took on the name of Cumbrae Church once again. The ministry of this new Cumbrae charge began in 1971 in the person of Andrew McLaren Smith, minister. |
