The kirk session of Edinburgh St Jame's was disjoined from St Cuthbert's and erected into an independent parish, quoad sacra, in 1891. The new parish church of St Jame's was later opened in 1895. In 1962 St Jame's united with Guthrie Memorial to form the session of Hopetoun, after the union the church and halls of St James's were used by the united congregation. In 1974 a further union followed between Hopetoun and Greenside, under the name of Greenside, after which time the Hopetoun buildings were demolished. The Kirk Session of Edinburgh St Jame's sat within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Edinburgh throughout its existence. |
