In 1614 the parishes of Boleskine, Kilchuimin (also known as Abertarff) and Dores were united together. The union however was not to last and in 1617 Dores was severed from Boleskine, followed in 1833 by Kilchuimin, which was disjoined and erected as the Parish of Fort Augustus. In addition to the Parish Church there was a mission chapel built within the parish boundaries at Foyers. In 1934, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Boleskine was united with the former United Free Church congregation of Stratherrick, under the name of Stratherrick and Boleskine. The parish of Dores was united for the second time with Boleskine in 1973 to form the session of Dores and Boleskine. The Kirk Session sits within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Inverness. |
