The Kirk Session of Edinburgh Murrayfield dates back to 1900 when the first church service took place in a wooden building constructed as a temporary place of worship. The present day site of Murrayfield Parish Church had been purchased in 1899 for the purpose of erecting a church and a hall in the district, in connection with the Church of Scotland and Murrayfield was granted Chapel-of-Ease status in the Parish of West Coates in 1902. In 1907 the Parish Church of Murrayfield was completed and in 1913 the parish was disjoined from West Coates and Craiglockhart and erected into a separate parish, quoad sacra. |
