The church of Lumphanan, which was known of old as Lan-finan, is believed to have been dedicated in pre-reformation times to St Finan. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567 in the person of John Mitchell, reader. In 1939 the parish church of Lumphanan was united with the former United Free Church congregation of Lumphanan Stothert Memorial, after the local union both churches continued in use and were attended alternately for worship. In 1980 Lumphanan linked with the parish of Kincardine O'Neil and the two session later united, along with Torphins, to form the session of Mid Deeside. |
