The Kirk Session of Channelkirk was established following the Reformation in 1560. Ministers to the parish are recorded from 1567. Prior to the Reformation, the church belonged to the Abbey of Dryburgh. Channelkirk formed part of the Presbytery of Selkirk until 1613, part of the Presbytery of Earlston (sometimes called Lauder) from 1613 until 1929, and part of the Presbytery of Melrose, from 1929 to 1976. With the restructuring of presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles. In 1973, Channelkirk was linked with Lauder Old. |
