Peterculter parish church, which was dedicated to St Peter, formerly belonged to the Abbey of Kelso and was a prebend of Aberdeen. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567 in the person of Alexander Robertson, reader. In 1779 a new parish church was erected. Peterculter became known as Peterculter St Peters in 1929 to differentiate it from the former United Free charge. In 1999 the Peterculter St Peter's united with the former United Free Church congregation of Peterculter Kelman Memorial; the united charge taking the simple name of Peterculter. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Aberdeen. |
