Stirling North Church originated as the third charge of Stirling Holy Rude. A third charge was erected in 1731 but it was collegiate until 1842 when the charges were separated and the North Church was opened in Murray Place in the same year. Following the Disruption of 1843 the minister of North Church and most of his congregation adhered to the Free Church but were unable to secure use of the Murray Place building. The established Church of Scotland North Church remained there until 1971 when the congregation moved to a new building in Braehead. |
