The parishes of Monzievaird and Strowan were united together towards the end of the 16th century. The church of Monzievaird had formerly belonged to the Abbey of Inchaffrey and was dedicated to St Serf and the church of Strowan was dedicated to St Ronan. After the parishes were joined together both retained their own churches, with services being alternated between the two until 1804, when the present church was erected at a more central location to serve the united parish. In 1964 Monzievaird and Strowan was divided into two sections, that of the East and of the West , and in the same year the East section was united with Creiff South to form the session of Creiff South and Monzievaird and the West section united with Comrie Old and St Kessog's, under the name of Comrie and Strowan. Crieff South and Monzievaird later went on to unite with Creiff St Andrew's and St Michael's in 1998 under the name of Creiff and Comrie and Strowan established a link with Dundurn in 1979. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Auchterarder until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Perth. |
