The parishes of Kilninver and Kilmelford were united at a time prior to 1550, with each parish retaining its own church after the union. In 1929, the year in which the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church united, the former United Free Church congregation of Kilmelford West joined with the parish church. After the union the former United Free Church buildings were sold. In 1974 Kilninver and Kilmelford established a link with Craignish. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Lorn and later of Inveraray, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of South Argyll. |
