On 26 December 1449 Lord William Crichton founded the Collegiate Church of Crichton. By Act of Parliament 1641 it was declared that the Collegiate Church was to be the parish church for all time. Indeed in 1648 it was noted that the kirk was said to have been ruinous these fifty-six years, and that the Collegiate church was being used as the parish church. Ministry began in 1569 in the person of Adam Johnston, minister. Throughout its existence the session was within Dalkeith Presbytery. On 19 April 1949 the session united with Cranstoun and Ford. |
