The church of Spynie, which was dedicated to the Holy Trinity, having been reported to the presbytery as being in a ruinous state in 1731 was removed four years after in 1735 from its location at Spynie to Quarrywood, where the church was renamed New Spynie. In 1958 Spynie was linked with Duffus under the ministry of Rev B. Sibbald, minister at Spynie and some years later in 1979 the two sessions, along with Duffus and Hopeman united under the name of Duffus, Spynie and Hopeman. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Elgin, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Moray. |
