The Church of Ardclach was dedicated to St Luag, who is also said to have died here. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1569 in the person of William Brown and the old church was rebuilt in 1626. In 1933, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Ardclach Parish Church was united with the former United Free Church congregation of Ardclach South. After the union the former South church was sold. In 1960 Ardclach was linked with Cawdor under the ministry of Rev. W Moore, minister at Cawdor, however this arrangement was terminated in 1963 in favour of a union with Auldearn and Dalmore. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Nairn and later of Inverness. |
