The parish of Muiravonside was disjoined from that of Falkirk and erected by Parliament into a separate parish on the 10th June 1648. Within the parish bounds there had been a Cistercian nunnery founded in the 12th century by Malcolm IV. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Linlithgow, later of Linlithgow and Falkirk, and following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Falkirk. |
