The church of Dingwall once belonged to the Priory of Pluscarden and there existed within the bounds of the parish chapels of St Laurence and of St Clement. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1561 in the person of William Mungo. The old parish church was destroyed by fire in 1733 and a new building was later erected in 1801. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dingwall, later of Chanonry and Dingwall and following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
