The medieval church was dedicated to St Brioch and was appropriated to the Abbey of Arbroath. The Corse portion of the parish was annexed to Leochd about 1621. Ministry began in 1563 in the person of George Lawson, reader. Until the early twentieth century the session was within the jurisdiction of Kincardine O'Neill Presbytery after which time it was within the jurisdiction of Desside Presbytery. By at leat 1976 the session was within the jurisdiction of Deeside and Alford Presbytery. On 1 May 1951 the session formed a link with Tarland which was terminated on 7 September 1975 to permit union on the same date under the name Coull and Tarland Kirk Session, Rev. J. W. S. Brown, minister. |
