The parish of Persie was disjoined from Alyth, Bendochy, Blairgowrie, Caputh, Kirkmichael, Lethendy and Rattray and erected as a separate parish, quoad sacra, on the 16th March 1859. Ministry of the session is recorded from the same year in the person of James McGregor. In 1939 Persie united with Netherton to form the session of Persie and Netherton and a further union followed with Glenshee and Cray in 1953, under the name of Glenshee and Glenericht. Following the two unions the churches of Glenshee, Cray and Netherton continued in use and the church of Persie was sold. In 1978 a union was established with Kirkmichael and Straloch to form the session of Kirkmichael, Straloch and Glenshee and after a period of continued vacancy between 1994 and 1998 a link was formed in 1998 with Rattray. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Meigle until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
