Logie-Easter formerly existed as a prebend of Fortrose Cathedral and ministry of the session is recorded from 1560 in the person of Sir Thomas Hay. By the late 18th century the church of Logie-Easter had fallen into a state of disrepair and accordingly requests were put to the Presbytery for the provision of a new church within the parish. By around 1818 it was agreed that a new building was required and a new parish church was erected at the new and more convenient location of Chapel-Hill. In 1934, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Logie Easter Parish Church united with the former United Free Church congregation of Logie-Easter South. After the local union both churches remained in use for worship until 1948 when the former South Church became the parish church. In 1976 Logie Easter and Kilmuir Easter were united to form the parish of Kilmuir and Logie Easter. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Tain until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
