The parish of Blackhill was disjoined form Peterhead, Longside and Cruden and erected as a separate parish, quoad sacra, on the 13th January 1879. Ministry of the parish is recorded from that year in the person of George Thomson. In 1970 a union was formed with Longside under the ministry of Rev. H Greenwood, minister at Longside. After the union the name Blackhill was dropped and the united session continued under the name of Longside. The Kirk Session sat within the Presbytery of Deer, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Buchan. |
