The old church of Reay, which was rebuilt in 1739, was dedicated to St Colman and formerly existed as a prebend of the Cathedral of Dornoch. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1574 in the person of Farquhar Reid. In 1955 Reay united with Shebster-Shurrey, with the united session continuing under the name of Reay, and in 1994 a link as established between Reay and Strathy and Halladale. The kirk session has sat within the jurisdiction of the presbytery of Caithness throughout its existence. |
