Bannockburn was originally constituted quoad sacra, that is for ecclesiastical purposes only, without civil responsibility or jurisdiction. A chapel was built there in 1838 and it was disjoined from St Ninians and erected in 1867. It is in the Presbytery of Stirling (sometime Stirling and Dunblane). The Church came to be known as Bannockburn Allan as distinguished from the congregation of Bannockburn Ladywell which joined the Church of Scotland after the union of 1929. |
