The parishes of Kilfinichen and Kilvicheoan were united together early in the 17th century. After the union each parish retained its own church and there was additionally a mission chapel established within the bounds of the parish at Pennyghael. Kilfinichen and Kilvicheon was linked for a time in the 20th century with the parishes of the Island of Mull, these links however were terminated in 1985 in favour of a link, on the same date, with the Parish of Iona and Ross of Mull. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Mull until, by Act of Assembly 1963, the Presbytery of Lorn and the Presbytery of Mull were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Lorn and Mull. |
