The church of Stonehouse was dedicated to St Ninian and was formerly a collegiate church of Bothwell. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1560 in the person of William Hamilton, reader. In 1946 Stonehouse Parish Church united with the former United Free Church congregation of Stonehouse Hamilton Memorial. The session was united under the name of Stonehouse St Ninian's and the Hamilton Memorial church was destroyed. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Hamilton. |
