The medieval church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Ministry began in 1567 in the person of John Anderson, sometime vicar and reader. Until the mid-twentieth century the session was within the jurisdiction of Kinross Presbytery, after which time it was within the jurisdiction of Dunfermline and Kinross Presbytery until 1976, after which it was within the jurisdiction of Perth Presbytery. In 1685 the parish was disjoined by Act of Parliament from Perth and annexed to Kinross-shire. The church was rebuilt in 1775 and again in 1832 after a fire. On 6 April 1980 the session was linked with Fossoway St Serf's and Devonside. |
