The Church of Hounam (also spelt Hownam), prior to the reformation, belonged to the Abbey of Jedburgh and ministry of the session is recorded from 1576 in the person of John Davison, reader. In 1956 Hounam was linked with Yethholm under the ministry of Rev. O.K.W. Macfadden, minister at Yetholm. A further link followed in 1963 with Morebattle, and Morebattle and Hounam later united in 1972 under the name of Morebattle and Hounam. In 1974 Linton formed a link with the united session. Hounam and Morebattle sits within the Presbytery of Jedburgh. |
