The parish of Carnoch was disjoined from Contin in 1864 and erected as an independent parish. A parliamentary church, which had been erected at Carnoch some years earlier in 1830, served as the parish church. In 1928 Carnoch was united with Strathconon under the name of Carnoch Strathconon and in 1960 the united session formed a union with Contin to form the parish of Contin-Strathconon. A further union followed in 1989 when Contin-Strathconon joined with Kinlochluichart and Strathgarve under the name of Contin. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dingwall and later of Chanonry and Dingwall, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
