The parish of Kinellar formerly existed as a vicarage belonging to the neighbouring parsonage of Kinkell. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567 in the person of James Henderson, reader. In 1953 Kinellar was united with Blackburn under the name of Kinellar and Blackburn and a link was later formed between the united session and Fintray in 1969. The link with Fintray became a union in 1993 under the name of Fintray and Kinellar and after the union an additional link which had previously been established between Fintray and Keithhall continued. The kirk session sat in the Presbytery of Aberdeen until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Gordon. |
