The Kirk session of St. Fergus was known of old as Longley but changed name to that of St. Fergus in 1616 when the church was removed to an alternative location. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567 in the person of Gilbert Chisholm. In 1959 St. Fergus formed a link with Crimond under the ministry of Rev. D.A. Duncan, minister at St. Fergus. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Deer until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Buchan. |
