In 1753 the lands which were later to form the parish of Skipness were disjoined from Kilcalmonell and transferred to the parish of Saddell. They remained part of Saddell until 1870 when the Court of Teinds disjoined Skipness and erected it as a separate parish. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1871 in the person of John MacNab McGregor. In 1936, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Skipness was united with the Skipness portion of the former United Free Church congregation of Carradel and Skipness. The parish of Kilcalmonell was linked with Skipness in 1965. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Kintyre until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of South Argyll. |
