The medieval church was a prebend of Glasgow and was dedicated to St Mary. Ministry began in 1563 in the person of John Scott, vicar. Throughout its existence the session has been within the jurisdiction of Lanark Presbytery. The church was rebuilt in 1794. On 7 December 1952 the session united with Carstairs Junction Kirk Session under the name of Carstairs and both churches continued in use. On 21 May 1966 that union was terminated and the reinstated congregations were linked on the same day. |
