The parishes of Lethnot and Navar were united by the Commisioner of Teinds on 6 February 1723. A new church was later built in 1827. Lethnot and Navar was linked with Menmuir during the years 1939-1942 and a union followed in 1953 with Edzell under the name of Edzell and Lethnot. The united session was later linked with Glenesk in 1982 and with Fern Carestoun Menmuir in 1997. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Brechin and later of Brechin and Fordoun until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Arbroath, the Presbytery of Forfar and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun were united under name of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
