The original parish church was dedicated by Bishop David de Bernham, 21 May 1243, and was granted to the Abbey of Scone by David I. On 13 Februaury 1356, William, Bishop of St Andrew's, on the renunciation of all rights in the church by Scone Abbey, gave in exchange the church of Blair in Gowrie. Ministry began in 1567 in the person of William Knox, minister. Throughout its existence the session was within the jurisdiction of Dalkeith Presbytery. In 1703 the session name changed to Primrose, but subsequently changed back to Carrington. On 29 July 1956 the session linked with Temple. On 1 June 1975 the link with Temple was terminated to permit a union with Cockpen under the name Cockpen and Carrington Kirk Session. |
