The church of Kilbucho was dedicated to St Brides and prior to the reformation it belonged to the Collegiate Church of Dalkeith. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567 in the person of William Porteous. In 1794 Kilbucho was united with parishes of Broughton and of Glenholm to form the session of Broughton Glenholm and Kilbucho and in 1967 Skirling was linked with the united session. A further link followed in 1977 with Stobo and Drumelzier with Tweedsmuir. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Biggar later of Peebles, and following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles. |
