The Kirk Session of Tweedsmuir was established in 1643, when Upper (or Over) Drumelzier was separated from the parish of Drumelzier, to form the new Parish of Tweedsmuir. The parish church was erected in 1648, replaced by a new building in 1874. Ministers to the parish are recorded from 1644. In 1951, the southern portion of the Parish of Drumelzier was joined with Tweedsmuir. In 1960, Tweedsmuir was linked with Stobo and Drumelzier, and in 1977, with Broughton, Glenholm and Kilbucho, with Skirling. |
