The congregation of Glasgow, St Enoch's was formed in 1780 to address the growing population of Glasgow at that time and the first minister was inducted in 1782. The church was rebuilt in 1827. On the 28 November 1924 a decree was issued by the Court of Teinds supressing the congregation of St Enoch's, meaning that it was no longer the Parish Church, but became part of Tron Parish. The congregation joined with that of Hogganfield Quoad Sacra, and a new Parish was erected as St Enoch's-Hogganfield, which became the Parish Church. The last service was held in St Enoch's on 1 February 1925, and on the 8th February 1925 the first joint service of St Enoch's-Hogganfield was held. A new church was opened to accommodate the joint Session in 1930, the old Hogganfield building became Millerston Extension Charge, and the old St Enoch's Church was demolished. |
