The church of Birse, anciently known as Brass, was dedicated to St Michael and was formerly a prebend of Aberdeen. In 1983 Birse was linked with the session of Finzean with Strachan, however this link was terminated in 1987 in favour of a union of the three parishes under the name of Birse and Feughside. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Kincardine O'Neil and later of Deeside until, by Act of Assembly of 1962, the Presbytery of Deeside and the Presbytery of Alford were united under the name of the Presbytery of Deeside and Alford. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Kincardine and Deeside. |
