The Kirk Session of Stobhill was disjoined from the parishes of Borthwick, Cockpen, Newbattle and Temple and was erected into a parish quoad sacra in 1859. Ministry of the parish is recorded from the same year in the person of John Dawson. Stobhill later became known as Gorebridge Stobhill and in 1975 was united with the congregations of Temple and also of the former United Free Church congregation of Gorebridge St Paul's. The united session was named Gorebridge. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dalkeith until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 when it became part of the Presbytery of Lothian. |
