Ministry of the Kirk Session of Minto, which sits within the Presbytery of Jedburgh, is recorded from 1575, in the person of William McGowan. The parish of Minto comprehends a large part of the suppressed parish of Hassendean, which was annexed here in 1690. The Minto Parish church was rebuilt in 1830 on a new site within the village of Minto. In 1968 the congregation of Ancrum was linked with Minto under the ministry of Rev P.B. Gunn, minister at Ancrum, however the link was later terminated in 1976 in favour of a linkage with Bedrule. Minto united with Bedrule and Denholm in 2003 under the name of Ruberslaw Church of Scotland. |
