The parish church of Keith, which was known of old as Kilmalruf, was dedicated to St Maludh and was formerly a mensal kirk of the Bishop of Moray. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1560 in the person of John Gordon. In 1816 the parish church was rebuilt. The parish of Keith, which was later known as Keith St Rufus was united in 1983 with Botriphnie, under the name of Keith St Ruffus and Botriphnie. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Strathbogie until, by Act of Assembly in 1961, the Presbytery of Strathbogie and the Presbytery of Fordyce were united under the name of the Presbytery of Strathbogie and Fordyce. Following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 Keith became part of the Presbytery of Moray. |
